‘Populous’ is a collection of sculptural silver vessels created for Hannah’s Graduate collection in 2021. Hannah graduated during the peak of Covid-19 and was therefore unable to access the facilities and tools within the university’s workshop to raise each of these pieces by hand, which led her to explore alternative techniques accessible from home. She soon decided to pursue lost wax casting, providing her the opportunity to incessantly practice wax model making.

This collection was inspired by the visual and behavioural aspects of several Sea Squirt species native to Scottish waters. These creatures can be found growing in solitude or in colonies and posses a plethora of beautiful forms, structures and surface patterns across their countless species.
